Understanding DRC in UPI Transactions

What is DRC?

DRC stands for Debit Reversal Confirmation. It's a process in UPI to resolve transactions with unknown status, ensuring timely responses and customer clarity.

Timeout Mechanism

If the Remitter bank doesn't respond promptly, NPCI triggers a timeout, sending a reversal message and notifying Payee & Payer PSPs.

DRC Process Flow

The Payer PSP raises a complaint, which is validated by URCS. The Remitter bank then investigates and provides a response.

Remitter Bank Responses

The Remitter bank can respond with reasons like 'Debit Reversal performed' or 'No online debit occurred'.

Resolution and Communication

UPI updates URCS and may raise a complaint/chargeback. The final response is sent to the Payer PSP and Payee PSP is notified.

Ensuring Transparency

DRC in UPI ensures transparency and accountability in resolving transaction issues, providing clarity for all parties involved.
